Sometimes nature itself can be the best physician and healer. Sometimes we get caught up on buying all sorts of overpriced pharmacy products, face masks, scrubs and skin care products when we could save so much by making our own products at home. I often read products saying "natural" , "organic" , "made with aloe vera, fruit, etc" , but when reading the ingredients list, I am muddled with all the chemicals and artificial substances. It can be a really hard task to find the perfect product for your skin. Often I think, wouldn't it be better to use the ACTUAL aloe vera, or avocado, or fruit and put it directly on my face, whilst avoiding all those added chemicals? Well, today I've decided to try out some natural DIY products to make at home. And let me tell you, I am pleasantly surprised. I would have normally thought I would NOT have time for this, but it really takes just a few minutes, and is fantastic!

Plus, it is perfect to have fun and keep our skin healthy during quarantine...but that's just a bonus.
Today I will be showing you a natural three step skincare, starting with a strawberry honey face scrub, an avocado face mask, and a hydrating cucumber layer to top it off.
#1 - Strawberry Honey Face Scrub
Ingredients
  • 5 strawberries
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 sugar
Puree your strawberries with a fork or in a food processor, then add sugar and honey. Mix well.

  • Strawberries are super loaded with vitamin C, alpha hydroxyl acids, salicylic acid, aspartic acid, folate and fiber, it can work wonders on your skin and avoid issues such as acne, blackheads, whiteheads, oily skin, dry skin and more.
  • Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne prevention. It is also packed with antioxidants to slow down ageing!
  • The sugar will be our main natural exfoliation factor and help get rid of that layer of dead skin. Feel free to add more or less, depending how grainy you'd like it.

Place the mix onto your face, whilst scrubbing it in in circular motions, but avoid doing it too hard, as we don't want skin redness or irritation.

Wash it off after a few seconds of scrubbing and dry your face well.
#2 - Avocado and Nutmeg mask
Ingredients :
  • 1 avocado
  • 4 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp Nutmeg

  • Mash the avocado into a paste with a fork
  • Mix in the olive oil and nutmeg
Avocado is anti-inflammatory because it contains lauric acid and other nutrients that act as antibacterial and antiviral agents and reduce acne and scars.

Olive oil contains the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. These vitamins are often used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema.

Nutmeg is great to brighten and even out your skin tone.

Place the mixture all over your face and leave in for 10-15 minutes. Feel free to add slices of cucumber over your eyes for some hydration and de-puffiness.

Now that your skin is all scrubbed and fresh, it is the best time to add some moisture! Which brings me to our third and final step.
#3 - Hydrating cucumber layer
Ingredients
  • 1 whole cucumber
  • 2 tbsp aloe vera, or aloe vera gel
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
Place your ingredients into a food processor or blender for about two minutes, until well incorporated.
Strain it to get rid of the peels (the thick watery substance that is left is what we want).

Cucumber and aloe vera are amazing for hydration and anti ageing. Hence, they are used in so many face products and spa treatments!
The coconut oil will help retain the moisture and serve to boost your natural oils.

Remove this about an hour later using a flannel.

I'll try to keep posting some more natural face masks for you to make at home! I know I will be incorporating this natural ingredients into my skin care from now on!

If you do give this a try, tell me how it went in the comments!

Take care everyone,

Tatiana
