"Why limit happy to an hour?" - W.C FIELDS |
Hosting a soirée fit for a queen ! - Let them eat cake! When people think of Marie-Antoinnette, they immediately envision pure opulence, high fashion and oh so many sumptious parties. Which is why, for this client, who was looking to host a lavish, feminine and one of a kind all-ladies daytime soirée, I combined both Marie Antoinette's elegance and Paris' charm and allure to then baptize the theme as "Marie Antoinette's Paris". I have to say, I aimed to turn this event into an experience fit for a queen that her guests would surely cherish. This truly is a party theme fit for all occasions and ages as long as glitter and glamor (and plenty of cake and sparkling rosé) are a must! Here I present you with the main components that made the event a success! 1. The DecorFor starters, the party featured different hues of pink, from blush to rose, soft blues, creams, white and gold. The lunch table was covered with an embroidered linen tablecloth and floral copper-coloured table runners. We utilized a soft gold and white Noritake China Set accompanied by a Lark Manor Ortis Charger, Bugatti Cutlery and flute champagne glasses. One of my favorite elements that we incorporated into this party was the little "tea corner", featuring Louis XV style furniture, a grand mirror and a vintage floral tea set. A true Parisian touch was given with 3D wooden Eiffel Tower pieces displayed in key spots of the party. 2. The FlowersFlowers add beauty, life and happiness to the ambiance. They are arguably the most important element to a party's decor. The main florals chosen for this event were roses. Roses are a symbol of romance and elegance and exude a wonderful fragrance. All over the venue, arrangements of roses could be praised, including the entrance, lounge space, buffet, lunch and dessert tables. 3. Food & DrinkIf you ask people how they enjoyed a party, the first response is nearly always, ‘Lovely, the food was excellent.’ (Or not, as the case may be!) For this occasion, we served a variety of traditionally French foods including Riz à l'orange (Orange infused rice), Fricassée de côtelettes de porc (very tender and moist pork chops accompanied with a rich vegetable gravy), Coq au vin (Wine infused Chicken), the famous Ratatouille (marinated vegetable platter), and a variety of French cheeses and fresh bread that were to be accompanied by a refreshing Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Rosé . 4. The dessert tableAnd what has to be my favorite part of it all, the dessert table!! I mean, how could we not take advantage of all that French pâtisserie has to offer. The dessert table we created was made up of two white wooden tables at a different levels each. The 3- tiered cake stood front and center in between two pyramids of pastel-coloured chocolate covered strawberries and large floral arrangements in tall glass vases. Our fabulously-french desserts included Crème brûlée, eclairs and macarons along with Parisian decorated sugar biscuits and cupcakes, Eiffel Tower shaped gold mini chocolate towers and Marie Antoinette Style Chocolate Covered Oreos. In terms of the decor elements, we went with a variety of stands from crystal, to gold, to white; all with different styles and heights. 5. MusicSHop Party Items
