Autumn is not a season to be only enjoyed outside! I make no secret of my love for autumn. Even since my young childhood days, I've been particularly amazed by fall, and consider it to be the most picturesque of all seasons. It really is a wonderful time, starting with that delightful warm toned colour palette, followed by all those crunchy leaves, foggy walks, frosted windows, and what I perhaps love the most, bright pumpkins galore! I find that as soon as they start popping up in store fronts, supermarkets, and at my neighbour's front doors, they immediately makes me forget about my end of summer sunshine nostalgia. Over the years, I have come to see autumn, not only as the marvelous season that it is, but additionally as some form of tunnel, or quaint transition into Christmas and the holiday season! Yet another phenomenal time of its own! Which makes the appearance of crisp orange leaves and pumpkin spice everything even more exciting and promising! With that being said, autumn should not be something to be enjoyed in the outdoors only. So I've had the best time bringing a piece of it into my home for display at my dining table! This year I will be spending autumn and Christmas back in London, the perfect contrast to my summer spent mostly in the French Riviera or some other hot destination, so bring on the magic London. I'll be waiting 😉 With my deep love for autumnal pumpkins and bright red and orange hued leaves, they seemed like both the perfect and most obvious choice as a centerpiece. I went out in search for different shapes and styles of pumpkins, ranging from bright orange to pale yellow. I did think of incorporating flowers in some way, as I usually would, but found that the pumpkins and leaves stand brilliantly on their own and were best complemented by a range of candles that I already had around the house. I feel the candles transmit more of a cozy weather vibe and are somewhat Halloweenish, in a way 🤔. What do you think? As a final and subtle touch to the centerpiece, I incorporated some pinecones that I picked up at the park accompanied by some shelled nuts. For the table setting, I aimed to keep the wooden table bare. I felt the mahogany toned wood worked like a dream with the autumnal oranges and yellows. A classic combo. I however couldn't just set the plate chargers directly on the wood. So, the perfect base component resulted in soft copper toned table runners, with this lovely leaf pattern, perfectly in concordance with my theme. I had used these at my Marie Antoinette's Paris party as well , if you fancy a read 😉. To balance out and neutralise all the bright colours, I set up some white plates with a pine green coloured napkin on top, that was held with this beautiful gold napkin holder with touches of green. For the cutlery, what better shade than gold to really stand out! Lastly, I had these wine and water glasses hidden away in my cabinets since last year! But I am convinced this was their perfect debut time! The black stems really contrast from the rest of the items laid out by the table, and again, I find them to be rather Halloweenish ! Hosting and making beautiful table layouts really is a passion and hobby of mine! So do come back for more in the future and don't forget to check out some of the other events I've hosted by tapping here!
Cheers ! Tatiana Xx.
